New Media Debate - Has technology behind New Media replaced entrepreneurialism in recruitment?
Date: Tue, Jun 16th, 2009 6:30:01 pm | Location: Guardian, Kings Place, 90, York Way, London N1 9GU | Speaker: Luke Mckend, Google & Jon Hull, RS Components
Google needs no introduction. As electronic communication has advanced and matured to the point where service delivery has taken over from hardware and operating systems as the main element of customer focus, so Google have benefited from these developments.
Recruiting for a virtual environment is different to traditional forms of recruiting, and candidates have different expectations. Or have they? Has technology really replaced good old fashioned entrepreneurialism? Do practices vary across industry sectors?
After a successful presentation in 2008 we are indeed privileged to be able to welcome back Luke Mckend of Google. He will be joined on this occasion by Jon Hull of RS Components, the leading high service level global supplier of Industrial components and tools, with over 130000 products despatched same day, and will discuss how they have successfully introduced and manage an e-recruitment programme.
Stephen Fowler, a former director of Avalon Search and Selection Ltd. and now a director of workflow software company Arithon will give a short presentation on blogging and the important role which this has in the New Media mix.
The presentations will run from 6.30 - 7.45, and will be preceded by drinks from 6.00 pm and will be followed by networking and refreshments. The evening will finish at 9.00 pm.
We should like to thank Guardian Jobs for their sponsorship and for hosting this event. Please note that the Guardian has moved to York Way. Do not go to the old Farringdon Rd. address.
